Ian MacLeod's Smokehead is an unashamedly boisterous peat monster, but where is it from? Smokehead is a rich, seaweedy and intensely peaty whisky.The flavour is fresh, fruity and immense, with notes of sherry, iodine, toffee, smoke and sea salt all fighting for recognition.A really vigorous whisky not for the faint hearted … savour and enjoy!

Now mid way through last year, some lucky customers were given a sample of a rather splendid peated Ilsay malt...and I asked you "What Do You Think?" The reposnse was amazing and I never let on which malt it was. So here it is. Ian McLeod's Smokehead extra Black 18yo. As the Chief Smokehead says, "Not for the faint-hearted, Smokehead Extra Black is a powerful and complex Single Malt, with hints of mint, ginger, cloves and vanilla and undertones of kiwi fruit and smoky chocolate." For me it is amazingly long and extremely well balanced, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Bravo Ian McLeod!!
