RUM
Cadenhead Corporacion Del Alcoholes Del Caribe Distillery 2005 13yo Venezuela Rum
700ml 58.60%
  Ret
$179.00

The style from this distillery, of which I have little information, is light to medium bodied and this Cadenhead new bottling for 2018 lives up to this style but in a more spicy way. In their words, "Hints of treacle, honeycomb, caraway and poppy seeds and cardamon." American oak matured, 246 bottles released.

Cadenhead Epris Distillery 14yo BMC Brazil Rum
700ml 45.30%
  Ret
$145.00

And another first, a Brazilian rum hailing fro the Epris distillery. The distillate comes off a column still and in Cadenhead's words, "Nose: Very sweet, aniseed balls, shortcrust pastry and cloves, along with butterscotch and sweet chocolate. Palate: Treacle notes, molasses and then sweet fruity flavours such as mandarins and peaches. Finish: Dark chocolate, lots of liquorice intertwined with cranberries."

Cadenhead Foursquare Distillery 2006 12yo MBFS Barbados Rum
700ml 63.20%
  Ret
$179.00

One of the more modern and quality producers out of the Caribbean. Using both pot and column still spirit. And this special release from Cadenhead lives up to the Foursquare reputation for classy and intriguing rums. As this rum has been been partially matured in American oak along with a short stint in an ex Kilkerran port cask. In Cadenhead's words, "Pecan pie and maple syrup, soft dark fruits with the Kilhkerran port cask influence coming through." All bourbon oak, 246 bottles released.

Cadenhead Green Label 175th 2002 14yo Jamaica Rum
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$139.00

Full, rich and fruity Jamaican rum, what a treat. And at 14 years of age. Official notes state, "A rum full and loaded with green banana, cooked bean sprouts; enveloping richness, with dried apricots in the foreground."

Cadenhead Green Label 175th 2008 9yo Panama Rum
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$129.00

It's a mystery to me as our allocation was very small. All I can say, is what an exotic location to make rum. According to Cadenhead tasters, "full and fruity. Hot milk with a splash of caramel. Roasted pistachios with some suggestion of milk chocolate."

Cadenhead Green Label 1988 20yo GMWE Grenada Rum
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$239.00

All we know about this rum is that it comes from a distillery that uses a column still and that there was only 312 bottled released. I think there are only three distilleries on Grenada: Dunfermline Estates, Grenada Sugar Factory and River Antoine Estate. If you know, let me know! Cadenheads notes read, "Toffee with peaches in syrup, apricots and white chocolate with cashew nuts."

Cadenhead Green Label 2008 10yo Jamaica Rum
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$119.00

It is so pleasing to see an aged rum, especially from Cadenheads. The official notes read, "Some soft red fruits and cream along with cinnamon, star anise and then apple skins, paprika and danish pastries."

Cadenhead Green Label Haiti Rum 9yo
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$119.00

Noe this is a first for me, rum from Haiti. Influenced by the French agricole tradition, this lighter in colour style is still big on flavour. All ex bourbon oak matured, no coluringa and it probably originated from that very famous distiller Barbancourt. In their words, "Nose Minty sweet notes along with a lively hit of eucalyptus at first but this is soon tempered by a rich sweet fruity note. Palate Sweet and very rich to start, some tropical fruits and all spice mingle with a rich oily middle palate of soft peaches and honey. Finish Clean soft fruity finish, summer on the beach comes to mind as this well balanced rum finishes its dance across the palate."

Cadenhead Green Label Jamaica Rum 13yo
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$139.00

Said to come from the Long Pond Distillery, so it should have been made through a continuous still. Full flavoured, no colouring, ex bourbon barrel matured and of course well aged! In their words, "Nose Summer pudding. Clean crisp green apples and grape juice. Palate Clean soft start, some sweet cookie dough raisin and vanilla pod, ice cream cones with runny honey tones. Finish Some oak and spice mingle with pears and spice, soft white fruits and a little citrus tone."

Cadenhead Green Label Jamaica White Rum
700ml 63.00%
  Ret
$129.00

Massive alcohol, no oak, with Cadenhead declaring the taste to be, "Ginger spice with caramel, apple struddle. Pistachio nuts, clotted cream and soft spearmint with warming spice. Finish: Very herbal with lingering soft spice, black pepper, star anise, corriander and fennel before becoming more fruit - satsumas and grapeskins."

Cadenhead Travellers Distillery 2007 11yo MBT Belize Rum
700ml 64.40%
  Ret
$149.00

A rum from Belize! Where is Belize? Belize is a small central American nation that sits above Gautamala. Travellers is a major distillery within this small country and was founded in 1953. The carbo source is molasses and all of their rums are double distilled. So to see a an indie bottling is quite exciting. Official notes reads, "Chewy with full bodied warming spice. Brandy snaps, stick toffee pudding and dates. Pleasantly bitter." All bourbon oak, 234 bottles released.

Cadenhead Uitvlugt Distillery1993 25yo MPM Guyana Rum
700ml 49.90%
  Ret
$499.00

What a name for a Caribbean distillery! I thought I was in Sweden. I'm told it is pronounced, "Eye-Flut" and it a village named after Dutch settlers in the 1600's. Then in 1750 they built a distillery named after the village. Very sadly, this distillery was closed in 2000. So how amazing that stocks are still available!! Official notes read: " Palate: Big rum, some ginger powder, kiwi fruits, brown bread toast with salted butter. Lychee, popping candy and lemon juice. Finish: Faint tropical fruits, giving way to more grassy and herbal notes before oily notes take over." American oak matured, 204 bottles released.

Southern Coast Rum Batch 01R
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
$290.00

CLOSED DISTILLERY From the Adelaide based Southern Coast Distillers comes this cracking and gutsy rum. Filled into a re-made and re-furbished, very heavily charred port cask made from American oak in May 2008 this cask filled 180 bottles at 46% in April 2010. There was a very long fermentation using a wine yeast and Queensland molasses with acid balance provided by citrus fruit. In their words, "Nose: Fruit juice and fresh coriander, spiced apple toffee, brown sugar rockmelon/ and ether/ isopropanol alcohol/acetone, gets fruitier with sultanas, raisins apricot nectar. Lots of higher alcohols lovely clean spirit, 20 Palate: fruity, syrupy, oily and like brandy soaked apricots, hot spirit, lots of raisins, sour melon with raisin and sultana slab. Finish: lingering raisins, ether, rockmelon and apricots, melon and fruit and nut mix, ether in the tail, along with paper and bamboo/sugarcane. Ether etc really hang around, warming and fruity spirit. Balance: Nice all the way through with the palate the star. The rest provided a nice support act." As distiller Ian Schmidt says, "rum is not just for Queenslanders"! SALE Pic indicative only
