SPEYSIDE
Glen Moray 12yo
750ml 40.00%
  Ret
POA

An old bottling, possibly dating back to Glenmorangies ownership of this little regarded distillery. It used to be that most of the spirit went into cheap blends, hence it's sad reputation. But this 12yo has a nice malty and honeyed feel about it. 203050sale

Glendronach 14yo Virgin Oak Finish
700ml 46.00%
  Ret
POA

New to Oz in Jan 2017. In the past we would have called the use of virgin oak in maturing whisky either a tragedy, a little odd, a tad weird and for most, just plain wrong. We also thought that the use of new oak was "illegal". Well it "aint" as our American cousins would say. It never has been illegal, but it was frowned upon. But this Glendro is an each way bet. For you see it was initially matured in Euro oak, presumably it had sherry in it? Then topped dressed in new American oak. Has been described as spicy with plenty of tropical and citrus fruit flavours. Quite lively for its 46%. 203050sale

Great Southern Limeburners M209 Peated
700ml 48.00%
  Ret
POA

A very limited release from the chaps at Great Southern Distillery. A relatively young whisky with a very moderate dose of peated malt. The malt is grainy and crunchy, the oak being American, delivers a good dose of creaminess to the nose but the peat doesn't show until you get it on the palate. Great length, lively spirit with a touch of saltiness, crisp malt and then you get the gentle dryness of the spicily smokiness of the peat. And there is a nice touch of lingering honey sweetness at the end. Nice one! 203050sale

Tasmanian Independent Bottlers A Renowned NSW Distillery Release 2 TIB 005 Sherry Cask
500ml 49.10%
  Ret
$320.00

The second release of this full flavoured dram, that Tim won't disclose from where it is from. But I have to say the spirit quality is excellent and the sherry cask is quite fruity. Well worth the try. Pic is indicative only. 203050sale

Tasmanian Independent Bottlers A Renowned NSW Distillery TIB 004 Sherry Cask
500ml 49.00%
  Ret
$320.00

This is Tim Duckett's other whisky project: sourcing high quality but unique Australian and New Zealand spirits. These spirits are mainly malted barley types but he isn't afraid to use other grains as well. And as you can imagine, Tim's doesn't hold back on revving them up a bit. The TIB bottlings are also produced at a more "manageable" alcohol strength. So which "Renowned Distillery" does this come from? I have no idea :-) 203050sale

Tasmanian Independent Bottlers Fleurieu Release 1 FL 006 Sherry Cask
500ml 49.10%
  Ret
$320.00

I've been following the career of GA Andrews & Sons at Fleurieu Distillery for some time. And needless to say, the spirit coming of Angela and Gareth's still has been mightily impressive. So to see an indie bottling really did catch my attention. Mainly because this fine spirit has now had the Duckett treatment - stirring, heating and aerating. Tasting notes to follow. 203050sale

Tasmanian Independent Bottlers Fleurieu Release 2 FL 0011 Sherry
500ml 49.20%
  Ret
$320.00

Brand new and initially showing that precise spirit that Gareth Andrews at Fleurieu is renowned for. Ducket's use of an Aussie sherry casks turns out to be the perfect match. 203050sale

Tasmanian Independent Bottlers Fleurieu Release 3 FL 007 Sherry Cask
500ml
  Ret
$320.00

The third release from one of the gun distilleries in SA. Very fined and precise spirit backed up by some luscious oak courtesy of the well-known treatment TIB gives all its casks. 203050sale

Tasmanian Independent Bottlers Mainland Distillers The Craft Batch 1 TIB 0020 And 11 Vatting 1 Bourb
500ml 48.10%
  Ret
$320.00

The latest for Tim Duckett's TIB and a slight change to the bottling formula as this is his first vatting of two casks possibly from two mainland distillers. As usual I could only guess that the style is distinctively TIB, is full bodied and full flavoured. 203050sale

Tasmanian Independent Bottlers Old Kempton Distillery Redlands Release 4 RD 0013 Port Cask
500ml 47.70%
  Ret
$280.00

From Tim Duckett's other brand, TIB spirit, while still getting some of the infamous or famous Duckett manipulation, TIB is generally a milder form of malt than the Heartwood extravaganzas. But, if you are into rich, fulsome, very well-made drams with plenty of sweet oakey flavours, then this one is for you. The distillery was once called Redlands, now called Old Kempton. The spirit quality is superb. PIc indicative only. 203050sale

Tasmanian Independent Bottlers Old Kempton Distillery Redlands Release 7 RD 003 Rd 008 Bourbon Sherr
500ml 51.00%

New for Xmas 2018 and possibly a first for TIB as ths malt is a tad lighter in colour, but Tim has upped the alcohol. When asked why? He just states that it works, it just needs it. As with all TIB's, they are just grandly drinkable. 203050sale

Released in Feb 2018, Batch 10 is quite a departure from the norm for me, as it is so damn quaffable. Every part of the whisky puzzle is in place and in harmony. And for this batch, honey with a hint of cinnamon spice, creamy malt, soft oak and long and lasting palate come up trumps for me. Ian and Vic su, it up perfectly: "Disgracefully easy drinking". A big Ace from me! And look!! It's now in a 200ml bottle. 203050sale

That's right, the first English malt spirit for over 100 years. Very much a work in progress, but you get to taste just how good this spirit is. This one is made by ex Green King brewer David Fitt, it's unpeated and has been matured in ex Jim Beam casks for 1 year, and yes the flavour of Jim Beam does come through. 203050sale
